We decided on an October wedding because there’s no controlling Cornish weather. This time of year can be staggeringly gorgeous and it is when most of the emmets (holiday makers) have gone. Whether it be storms or sunshine, wind or rain we want to have a lovely day, you just need the right costume to wear.
The dress code for guests is smart, luxurious and relaxed: tweeds, corduroy, fun prints, velvets and metallics encouraged…
MEN: you’re allowed to go for a classic suit and tie, but perhaps you’ll opt for suit with trainers, a roll neck instead of a shirt, or some chest hair in place of a tie?
LADIES: Please wear something you feel great in, maybe you fancy cracking out a party dress or a jumpsuit?
BABIES: Lowen has done 5 weddings this summer- his top tip? Pack some spare outfits and go for more costume changes than Beyonce. Always finish in some chic pyjamas that you can shit yourself in.
OTHER BITS
Our plan is to head to the beach in the morning for a non-obligatory swim
- Your best trunks/bikinis/wetsuits
- Your own snazzy beach towel
- Something warm to wear up/down
We’ll be heading back to the beach (weather permitting) in the afternoon for the ceremony and like the Scouts, ‘be prepared’: We will be inside if its raining but we won’t be put off by a bit of grey cloud and mizzle!
- Sensible shoes for the coastal path to the beach; expect sand, mud and rocks
- Please make sure you’re warm enough!
- An anorak just incase of damp mizzle (mist/drizzle)
WARNING: Cornish winds have no mercy for hair-dos, millinery or umbrellas.
The celebration ends with a feast and a dance in the venue
- Imperative requirement is dancing shoes for getting DOWN
